Dan Nay night at Costa Mesa Speedway usually means two things. First Dan Nay a long time fan of speedway puts up a $100.00 bonus on each and every race of the night. The riders always seem to try extra hard for that bonus. The second thing Dan Nay usually brings is the end of retirement for John Aden. For the second year in a row "The IceMan" made is speedway debut on Dan Nay night. Although Aden finished last in the handicap main, he did win both his heat and semi race and pocketed $200.00 for his effort.

Randy "the Rocket" DiFransesco returned Saturday night only a week after "shortening" his index finger by about 1/2 inch. Randy failed to transfer on the handicap side but did make it to the last chance race in scratch racing. Randy is still having a hard time holding on to the bars but it should be even better next week.

Two times Saturday Scott Brant was in a transfer position, both handicap and in the last chance race when he had problems with the bike. Brant failed to make either main event.

The rider of the night had to be Shawn McConnell. "MadDog" made and won both main events. Making a few great moves in the scratch main put Shawn in the lead after two laps. After grabbing the checkers from starter Jerry king, McConnel showed of his new RAZ VIDEO sponsorship with a nice checkered flag wheelie down the back stretch.

Next Saturday is the second annual Jack Milne cup at Costa mesa. It features all scratch racing. This is a big event at Costa Mesa and was captured by Bobby Schwartz last year. This is one not to miss. Sunday all the racers are heading to Ventura for some exciting daytime racing. The "Commotion by the Ocean" returns Sunday at 3:30!
