2-10-00. The 2000 speedway season is almost here. And when this season is over,
speedway at Costa Mesa is over. The 200 season marks the final year ever
for speedway racing at Costa Mesa and possibly in Southern Cal. That is unless another
site is located. So after 31 years it's finally over. I have heard of a few reasons
for it coming to an end but I can conferm none of them so I won't speculate
as to which are true and which are false. Just know that it's over.
t was announced at the spring classic that Josh Larsen, Chris Manchester and Dukie Ermolenko will be racing at Costa Mesa this year. this should add alot to the weekly program. If you have never seen Manchester race, Give him a look. After 2 or three weeks to get used to the track, He will be a favorite to win the main every single night.
7-9-97. I talked to John Aden tonight about his fine and suspension. Aden said, "I feel bad for my fans and sponsers. In the long run they are the ones who pay." Aden added,"I do not feel it was the right call at the track and don't think it's right now." John feels bad that on one of the biggest nights of the year speedway decides to hand out suspensions. "They do this and then wonder why we have no riders". "The top riders don't want to play these games." Aden also added that while he is out he plans on riding Victorville and "Spend some more time at the river."
5-31-97. It was announced tonight that the first race at victorville will be held on July 4th. Thats great news
I was just informed by a great source, Victorville speedway has just been purchased. The new owners are Bill Cody of Cody Products, Randy Skinner a long time racer at Costa Mesa and Goat Brecker. Racing is set to to run on Friday nights starting next month. There was a purchase price but I will leave that out. GOOD LUCK GUY'S Also, Raz Video has announceed that they are set to air Costa Mesa speedway racing every Saturday night on a local LA cable station starting next month. Good Luck Howie.
5-18-97 We were told last night , after one round in the world GP the leader is our own Greg Hancock. 2nd place is Billy hamill. Hopefully the can keep up the good work. Also got great news about another southern cal track. But I can's say anything about it yet. When I can I'll let ya know. If you hear any doog stuff that needs to be online let me know asap.
